Create a Label Manager custom field and add it to screens
(Optional) On specific projects change to project specific label items
App Installation and Initialization
Option 1: Installation from within Jira
As Jira Administrator: Settings → Apps → Find new apps → Search for “Label Manager for Jira”

3. Click “Try it free” to start the 30-day trial

Log in with an account that has Jira Administrator Permission on your instance
Click “Try it free” to start the 30-day trial
Select your instance
Initialization
The App is built on Forge, which means it is hosted by Atlassian itself and no data leaves your instance.
This also means that the first time user interact with your app they need to allow access to the specific permission scope the app needs.
As Jira Administrator: Settings → Apps → 'Label Manager - Global Settings'
Click “Allow access”
Click “Accept”

Create a Label Manager custom field
‘Label Manager Custom fields are not supported inside team-managed projects in Jira. Use company managed projects instead.
Features of Label Manager specific fields that are not supported on Jira native ‘Labels’ field.
Activate coloring to use labels as checklists by allowing users to assign issue specific traffic light colors to them.
Select 'Customize labels for this project' to manage predefined labels for this project independent from other projects.
Allow project admins to manage available label items for their project independent from other projects or Jira administrator’s help.
Label Manager custom fields can be created like Jira native custom fields
As Jira Administrator: Settings → Issues → Custom fields (Side-navigation) → ‘Create custom field’ Button
Select ‘All’ → Search “Label” → Select “Label Manager for Jira”
Click Next
Enter a Name and Description and click Create
Optional: Associate the new created field with screens
Label Manager Custom Fields behave like normal custom fields and need to be put on the correct screens to appear in projects.
