General Settings - Label Manager

For each Project and each Label Manager custom field you can configure General Settings in the Label-Manager - Projects Settings Page

De-/Activate coloring

  • Coloring is activated by default for all global and project specific Label Manager custom fields.

  • You have the option to deactivate the colors in the issue detail view as well as the option to add new colors in the custom field edit modal-dialog.

  • Deactivating coloring does not delete previous safed color values, once you activate coloring they will return.

  • After changing the “Activate coloring” toggle you need to save the changes by clicking ‘Submit General Settings’

Switching from global settings to project specific settings

  • All label manager custom fields use the global label items by default.

  • You have the option to switch to project specific label which allows you to change the label items used in your project indipendent from global changes.

If you once started to work with Label Manager fields for example with global items and you have one or more issues assigned with these items, it can happen that you want to switch to local Label Manager settings for your project.

  1. Select “Customize for project <projectKey>

  2. Click “Submit General Settings”

  3. In the modal-dialog you need to decide if you want to copy the global items or start with an empty list and delete already selected label items. Click Copy or Delete

Switching from project settings back to global specific settings

If you once worked with Label Manager items with local settings in your project and you want to switch back it's only possible to maintain the items selected that also exist in the global settings. To do this, select ‘Maintain’ while switching from project specific to global settings.

If you want to delete selected labels in the project click ‘Delete

The reason for deselecting or migrating the items is that Label Manager custom fields do only allow items assigned to your issues which are defined in your settings.

Add Project specific label item(s)

Once you decided to customize the label items for your project you get a similar input and table as in global settings to add and update label items.

  1. Add one or multiple label at once using the text input field: Add label item(s)

Use a comma and space seperated list to add multiple label items at once. Example:

label1, label2, label3

Edit, Merge and Delete Project specific Label Items

  • Updating project specific Label Items will update the label item on every issue that it is selected inside the project.

  • This will trigger the “Update Issue” event and Jira will sent Emails based on Notification settings.

  • The updating task may continue in the background if too many issues (>1000) need to be updated.

Edit Project specific Label Item

  1. In the table, identify which label to edit and click Edit

  2. In the modal-dialog edit the label and click Submit

Merge Project specific Label Items

  1. In the table identify the label you want to merge into another one and click Merge
