There is one big difference: You can only select items which are defined by an administrator or a project administrator. So you can't create new items for Label Manager fields as a user. This allows more control for the creation of new labels items.

Using colored labels

Coloring Label Manager items is enabled by default.

Users can select traffic light colors for labels on each issue. This allows to use labels as checklists.

Example:

Label ‘All-Unit-tests-passed’ might be:

  • ‘Green’ on Issue ‘KAN-1’ indicating everything passed

  • ‘Grey’ on Issue ‘KAN-2’ indicating nothing has been done yet

  • ‘Orange’ on Issue ‘KAN-2’ indicating that its ongoing

  • ‘Red’ on Issue ‘KAN-3’ indicating that tests have failed

Currently you need to save your label item selection first and open the ‘Edit Dialog’ again to change the color. We can hopefully change this to a dynamic solution in the future.

...

Once you already have Label Items selected and you open the ‘Edit Dialog’ you will see each label represented as button below the select field. Clicking on the label changes the color in the following order.

Grey (Default) → Red → Orange → Green → Grey (Default)

...

As project administrator you can use your Label Manager fields as a checklist or a ToDo list with color support.

Clicking on the magnifying glass ‘🔍’ will redirect you to issue navigator and filter for all issues that share the same label items.
