Label Manager Custom Fields can only be created by an Jira-Administrator. The Create button only redirects to the global custom field overview.

Label Manager - Project Settings Page

  1. As Project Administrator: Jira project Project Settings Apps → 'Label Manager - Project Settings'

  2. Select the Label Manager custom field you want to configure → Click Select

For each Project and each Label Manager custom field you can configure General Settings in the Label-Manager - Projects Settings Page

De-/Activate coloring

  • Coloring is activated by default for all global and project specific Label Manager custom fields.

  • You have the option to deactivate the colors in the issue detail view as well as the option to add new colors in the custom field edit modal-dialog.

  • Deactivating coloring does not delete previous safed color values, once you activate coloring they will return.

  • After changing the “Activate coloring” toggle you need to save the changes by clicking ‘Submit General Settings’

2. Switching from global settings to project specific settings

  • All label manager custom fields use the global label items by default.

  • You have the option to switch to project specific label which allows you to change the label items used in your project indipendent from global changes.

  1. Select “Customize for project <projectKey>

  2. Click “Submit General Settings”

  3. In the modal-dialog you need to decide if you want to copy the global items or start with an empty list and delete already selected label items. Click Copy or Delete

Switching from project settings back to global specific settings

If you once worked with Label Manager items with local settings in your project and you want to switch back it's only possible to maintain the items selected that also exist in the global settings. To do this, select ‘Maintain’ Maintainwhile switching from project specific to global settings.

If you want to delete selected labels in the project click ‘Delete

The reason for deselecting or migrating the items is that Label Manager custom fields do only allow items assigned to your issues which are defined in your settings.

4. Add Project specific label item(s)

Once you decided to customize the label items for your project you get a similar input and table as in global settings to add and update label items.

Use a comma and space seperated list to add multiple label items at once. Example:

5. Filter, Edit, Merge and Delete - Project specific Label Items

  • Updating project specific Label Items will update the label item on every issue that it is selected inside the project.

  • This will trigger the “Update Issue” event and Jira will sent Emails based on Notification settings.

  • The updating task may continue in the background if too many issues (>1000) need to be updated.

Filter Project specific Label Items

Use the free text search field to filter the displayed label items.

The search is case insensitive and fuzzy and will return labels even if you only search for parts of the label.

This should help you finding related labels, duplicates, typos.
